Sculptural waymarkers along public footpath

Gateshead Council installed a new public footpath and transformed some fields previously used for agriculture into traditional moorland through planting with indigenous flora. The ceramics represent wildflowers and insects that will naturally flourish in the new habitat once the flora is established. The idea is that the walker chances upon the boulders at strategic locations in the landscape. Workshops with women’s historical group fed into design process.
