FIRE AND WATER is a ceramics and sound installation created in collaboration with Joseph Young. The ‘fire’ in the title refers to an anagama firing at Kohila Woodfiring Symposium, Estonia, whilst ‘water’ references the site of a natural spring in Asturias, Northern Spain.

Joseph utilised binaural recording techniques to capture the firing and the spring, and I used a digital microscope to magnify the micro flora growing around the spring for my tile-based porcelain designs, fired in a soda wood kiln in Denmark at the beginning of the year.

Fire and water, together with clay (earth) produces a mixed media experience that extends our understanding of form and texture in relation to landscape. Pictured here are two of the roundels representing fire and water.I look forward to seeing you there and showing you my new work!
