This summer I am honoured to have been guest artist at this year’s Woodfirer Young Artist in Residence symposium at Guldagergaard International Ceramic Research Centre in Denmark. I have spent the past 5 weeks working alongside a group of ceramic artists from Canada, United Kingdom, Russia, USA and India. We have done three wood firings together, the Bourry Box, Soda wood kiln and Fred Olsen’s Embla or Church kiln, the biggest and most unique of the wood kilns on site. We fired the Embla for 5 days and nights and unloaded it yesterday with wonderful results.
There will be an exhibition of the work we all produced in the Apple House Gallery at Guldagergaard. I am showing a brand new body of work called Peonies, a new concept I have been planning for years called ceramic wallpaper. The designs are inspired by my recent visit to China earlier this year.
